SUCCESSFULLY MANAGING COMPLEX PROJECTS
Planning ahead instead of correcting later

Complex market research projects rarely fail because of the fieldwork itself. Challenges arise much earlier – already in the planning phase.
Especially in B2B environments, demanding target groups, limited time windows and high quality requirements create a dynamic that needs to be considered at an early stage.
Accordingly, proactive planning is not a formal preparatory step for us, but a central control instrument.
Planning starts before the study desgin
Complex projects require clear classification from the very beginning.
Not every research question can be answered using the same approach, not every target group responds in the same way and not every setting is suitable for every method.
Early on, we therefore ask which research method can realistically be implemented under the given conditions while still providing a robust basis for analysis.
In our forward-looking planning, we consider target group, context, and feasibility together.
This creates the foundation for a realistic assessment of fieldwork and helps reduce the need for later corrections.
The field perspective is part of our planning from the start
Especially in complex projects, success depends on incorporating the field perspective at an early stage. Actual feasibility under real field conditions cannot be derived theoretically, it must be assessed realistically.
That is why we do not plan projects independently of the field, but integrate operational feasibility from the very beginning. From recruiting complex target groups to selecting suitable data collection methods.
This approach proves particularly valuable when working with hard-to-reach or highly engaged B2B target groups.
Anticipation instead of reaction
For us, proactive planning means anticipating potential developments:
What happens if field conditions change?
Where does the study design need flexibility?
Which methodological alternatives are available if adjustments become necessary?
Our strength lies in our confident command of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Whether CATI, online, face-to-face, point of sale, or mystery shopping - the key is to be prepared and to plan options preventively rather than reacting later.
Structure stabilizes complex projects
Forward-looking planning enables us to make clear, well-founded decisions at an early stage. Timeframes can be managed realistically and resources deployed in a targeted manner, which in turn allows for active quality assurance. The result is projects that remain stable even under demanding conditions.
Our fieldwork experience shows that projects which are structured early on require fewer corrections during implementation and remain robust even under challenging circumstances. Ultimately delivering reliable results.
Foresight creates security
Complexity cannot be avoided, but it can be managed.
By planning early, incorporating field realities, and keeping methodological options open, we create security for clients, project teams, and outcomes alike.
In the upcoming editions of this series, we will show how collaboration, flexibility, and experience further stabilize complex projects and why demanding assignments often deliver the most robust insights.
